"a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction; and that, as you will see, leaves the great problem of the true nature of woman and the true nature of fiction unsolved." Virginia Woolf

For all those inquiring minds...
I just finished my first prenatal belly dance session. It was all I dreamed of and more!!!
Indeed, I did, Ashley, indeed I did. She told me that I was crazy for trying to have a baby and take doctoral exams at the same time. :-) In all seriousness, it was a good way to connect with my body. I feel a little silly doing it, but I'm sure that I'm not going to feel overly beautiful during labor and delivery so I might as well get used to it!
Was it hard to do? I need to do something, but I'm so uncoordinated that I have a hard time keeping up with the DVD people! I think I was Libby Looney's most hopeless ballet student ever - and it wasn't from a lack of trying! At least she graded us on attendance and participation and not performance! :)
Beth ~ Not too hard at all and it only lasts about 30 minutes. There is one section with talking and one with just the music. So far I've gone with the one where she's talking me through it :-) The section with the traveling steps is a bit tricky, but I think I'll get it soone enough. The other stuff is pretty mellow, and the hip circles and arm waving helps stretch out some places that definitely need stretching! I bought it on e-bay so it wasn't very expensive. I also have the Gaiam prenatal yoga DVD that I like a lot. It's more breathing and stretching oriented so not a good cardio workout, but it's nice and relaxing (it's about an hour).
The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls.
I'm a reader. I complain about all of the reading that I have to do, but secretly I LOVE it (or, maybe not so secretly!). I am a Ph.D. student in Religion at Duke University and thus live for basketball season. Go DEVILS!!!

You are much braver than I am! I bet it was so neat though.
Oh, I'm not too brave. There's not too much bravery involved when it's just you and the woman on the DVD in the privacy of your own living room!
man, I think that would have been fun!
So did you connect with yout inner goddess? :) Seriously, that sounds like it was fun! Miss you friend!
