So I promise a more substantial post soon, but for now I will just alert everyone that I successfully defended my dissertation proposal yesterday. My committee unanimously voted that I could proceed. I have jumped through another hoop. Hoorah.
I'm now working on a shortened version of my proposal that must be approved by the CDC (the Committee on Doctoral Committees, not the Center for Disease Control) when they meet next week. This next step is pretty much a formality so I'm not as nervous about it. YAY. I can now dedicate another 2+ years of my life to research and writing. I know this sounds like death to some of you, but I'm WAY excited.

Congratulations to you! Dr. Neeley always told us grad school was a series of hoops to jump through. It took me about a week in UA's program to believe him. Well done!
Congrats!! Every hoop jumped is indeed a hoop worth celebrating :) Woo hoo!
whoo hoo! so excited for you! what a relief i am sure! your mom dropped the patterns off today and i made her a copy of the other two duck plates. our house was a d.i.s.a.s.t.e.r. and i was attempting to clean out the litter boxes! i promised her over and over that it's not usually this bad! pleeeeease apologize again to her for me!
Congratulations! That's very exciting--and an relief, I'm sure!
Yay!! Don't you just love all those hoops!? They will be worth it in the end!
