I went to Publix today and I finally managed to "save" more than I spent. I'm still getting used to not having Kroger, Food Lion, and Harris Teeter. Harris Teeter doubled coupons up to $0.99 and periodically TRIPLED coupons. Sigh. Please allow me a moment of silence as I mourn that loss.
ANYWAY, I'm starting to figure out Publix and Winn Dixie though I've yet to find a great source that matches Winn Dixie coupons with the weekly deals. I suppose no one's going to beat Jenny over at Southern Savers. I'm SO very thankful that she covers Publix.
SO, back to my deals today. Here's a picture of everything I bought (minus the Alexia snacks, I think) followed by a list. The price in parentheses is what I paid for that item after all discounts and coupons. Feel free to skip this post if you find it boring, but I always like to see how much other folks save. (At least my adorable daughter is in the picture!)
1 2L Coke ($1)
1 2L Sprite ($1)
1 2L Cherry Coke ($1)
1 Box of Frosted Mini-Wheats (Bite Size) ($2.09)
1 Box of Strawberry Frosted Mini-Wheats (FREE)
1 Starkist Seasations Fish Fillets (FREE)
2 Bags Organic Valley String Cheese ($2.99/each - these things are normally $4.99 each!)
1 Birds Eye Voila Garlic Shrimp ($1.98)
1 Birds Eye Voila Chicken Penne with Vegetables ($1.97)
1 Alexia Natural Crunchy Snacks (I picked the Ranch version) ($0.45)
1 Box of Near East Parmesan Couscous ($1.10)
1 Box of Near East Whole Grain Blends ($1.09)
1 Lawry's 30 minute Marinade ($0.36)
1 Kraft Raspberry Vinaigrette Good Seasons Dressing ($1.50)
1 Box Vanilla Jello Pudding ($1.09)
1 Box Cookies and Cream Jello Pudding ($1.39)
2 bags Cascadian Farm Organic French Fries ($1.50/each)
1 bag Cascadian Farm Organic Green Beans ($1.50)
1 bag Cascadian Farm Organic Sweet Peas ($1.50)
1 box Cascadian Farm Organic Spinach ($1.50)
1 bag Cascadian Farm Organic Edamame ($1.50)
1 bag Morningstar Farms Veggie dogs ($1.99)
1 bottle Kraft Honey BBQ Sauce ($1.29)
Publix:
Total Before Sales and Coupons: $79.33
Total Spent: $38.87
Total Saved:$40.46 or 51%
To make things even better, I bought 4 different Kraft products so I'll send this receipt in with another smaller receipt to get a $10 gift card to Publix! Haven't heard about the Kraft promotion? Check out the details here. I spent $5.27 on my four Kraft products so that means I'll make $4.73 just for buying them and shopping at Publix! You can submit up to 3 rebates per household and since we're in the process of restocking our supplies, we'll probably have plenty of receipts.
So, there you have it...a peak into my WAY exciting new life here in AL. :-)

Great job and thanks for sharing! I am so interested in reading about how people save money
I wish our publix were closer than 40 minutes away. I always seem to do so well savings wise on stuff we actually use/need.
I also love their secret penny item.
I love couponing. I'm glad my friends do too!
