I wanted to post a few pictures of the results of last weekend's strawberry jam-making event. I must say that I had a lot of fun! Debra helped me with this first attempt and, with her instruction, I was able to make two batches of strawberry jelly/jam. Fortunately for me she was very patient with me AND I have no pictures of the mess I made. I do, however, have these lovely pictures of the finished product. Each individual jar has a hand-written label; how homey is that?
I hope to make at least one batch of blueberry and one of blackberry later in the summer. I'd love to make peach too, but the peach crop in the Carolinas was hurt a little by the recent cold spell so I'll have to wait and see. But, I guess I should stop rambling about my newfound domesticity. Suffice it to say that I am quite proud with the results of my first jam-making extravaganza. All of the jam jelled and all of the jars sealed - yay!

Mandy - I have recently discovered quilting. In case this theology thing doesnt work out - maybe we could open a little domestic road side stand together.
Can I be the girl who stands on the side of the road with the hand-written posterboard sign advertising your creations? I can see it now... "Stop here... Mandy and Meg's Stand-O-Domesticity."
Looks pretty and I bet it was fun! I wish I had some of that jam right now, actually... How's your co-op with the farm going? Are you enjoying your weekly veggies?
Yay for the domesticity! Looks like you did a great job! I'm very impressed that all the jars sealed on your first attempt. If you keep this up, I'll have to help Susan color the signs for your roadside stand.
Thanks friends! I must confess that I couldn't have done it without Debra's help. I'm sure her many hints saved me from several common mistakes.
Meg, Susan, and Heather ~ I'm all about a roadside stand if the teaching thing never pans out. A more credentialed Stand-O-Domesticity could not exist. Think about the number of degrees we would have running that place. Susan brings in 3 all by herself :-)
Oh, and if any of you decide to stop by here on your way back from CBF (hint, hint), we could make a batch of jam together. It will be blueberry and blackberry season about then. Could be fun. Maybe we could even convince Meg to give us a quilting lesson. I crochet a little, but quilting seems more advanced than my current skills allow.

Very domestic. I'm impressed, and actually a little hungry for some jam and biscuits right now too...I'm so pregnant!!
